Proof Of Global Warming: Tropical Heat Wave Hits L.A., Calif.

It’s Snowing In Los Angeles — Must Be Global WARMING!! by Infinity GoodsHere’s a couple of shots of snow in the Los Angeles mountains that I took in between rainstorms, from the west end of the San Fernando Valley, in the mountains separating Los Angeles County and Ventura County. This is NOT a common sight, so if you were wondering why I was posting about the cold from Southern California, this visual is worth a thousand words as the saying goes. Our thermometers, Snow — Los Angeles Style With A Palm Tree by Infinity Goodseven at the low altitude of the San Fernando Valley, were below freezing, something we are definitely not used to in these parts. And some prophets tell us that snow proves global warming! I just can’t resist laughing out loud, and often. I was glad to happen upon this palm tree: a visual juxtaposition of hot with the cold of the snow.

I too live in Southern California and the mountains around Simi Valley are capped with snow. It’s been raining so hard that I almost had to row myself out of my driveway the other day.:)

    Global Warming? What Global Warming?

Daily regional weather is not related to global warming, and many areas of the world may get colder as the climate changes as a result to more CO2 in the atmosphere. Climate change is creating a higher average amount of extreme and weird weather events around the world like snow where not normally seen like in the middle east, and a lot of flooding. I know it’s easy to look outside and call @*#$&@ (expletive edited out by Infinity Goods), but its a fact that the worlds average temperature is rising. This is not a black in white issue that can be tossed because of a single events, you have the right to your opinion, but that’s all it is, an opinion. Almost all the worlds climate scientist agree that man made global warming is happening, I’ll take there word for it and do the best I can to reduce my impact and vote for the politician who is doing the best to bring about a meaningful solution.

You’re right a local weather event doesn’t prove or disprove global warming, which is why no one rational believes the wild claims about Hurricane Katrina being caused by global warming. In fact, a recent study by the Civil Society Coalition on Climate Change found fewer people are dying from natural disasters, despite global warming predictions, and no study has ever found “higher average amount of extreme and weird weather events around the world.”

Figures from the U.S. National Climate Data Center show global temperatures being relatively flat and slightly cooling since 1998. British scientists are predicting 2008 will be the coldest since 2000, and Russian scientists are predicting the start of a downward temperature trend that won’t bottom out until the middle of the 21st century.

The truth is, a 2004 survey of climate scientists found only 9.4% ‘strongly agree’ that climate change is mostly the result of manmade sources. A similar number ‘strongly disagree.’ Also, only 22.8% ‘strongly agree’ that the IPCC (the U.N. science body) reports accurately reflect a consensus within climate science. The report Al Gore points to in “Inconvenient Truth” as showing 100% agreement has been shown to be the result of shoddy research and manipulation of facts. The author cherry-picked 900-some studies out of more than 11,000, saw that they didn’t outright dispute man-made warming, then claimed they all supported man-made warming. Upon review by other researchers, only 3% of the papers in the study cited by Gore actually supported man-made warming.

There are no proposals out there that will make a dent in global warming.

It’s also a fact that those businesses who stand to gain the most from global warming restrictions are oil companies, and one of the early collaborators with Al Gore on global warming restrictions was Ken Lay of Enron. Yes, THAT Enron. The entire global warming scare is about controlling you and your life. So go ahead and drink the Kool-Aid if you like. You are entitled to your opinion, even if it is a completely uninformed one. To paraphrase Patrick Moore, founder of Greenpeace, environmentalists long ago abandoned reason.
