Posted by infinitygoods on February 7, 2008

The Chinese year 4706 begins on Feb. 7, 2008 and festivities last for 15 days. It is the most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Pictured is the Fu symbol for prosperity. This photo was uploaded to Flickr’s public files by Suzzanna Low.

That’s a great picture. We went to a Chinese New Year’s parade one year in China Town Los Angeles. It was a lot of fun. I love those dragons! The then Mayor of Los Angeles was in the parade. This was many many years ago, when Tom Bradley was the mayor.

Thanks, 4urpets. Suzzanna had several really good and colorful shots.
I’ve seen several of the Chinese New Year parades too, but in San Francisco. They are a blast! There were lots of firecrackers, red good luck papers being scattered into the wind, lots of drums and music, vibrant colors especially reds, yellows and gold, dancing people and dragons, and ceremonial fighting. It brought lots of joy to everyone, Chinatown locals and tourists alike.
