Jesus Directed To Prepare The Passover

Posted by infinitygoods on April 8, 2008

Have you ever celebrated Pesach or Passover as Jesus did with His apostles for The Last Super?

Pictured here are samples of the Seder Plates used for the Passover dinner. Our church and several other churches in our area celebrate the seder meal each year and several newspaper articles have been written about it in the Los Angeles Times and the Los Angeles Daily News. Has this Jewish celebration been adopted by your church, I wonder? If you are Jewish, I’d love to hear about your memories or what you look forward to each year during Passover.

It’s My Party And I’ll Sing If I Want To, Sing If I Want To

5 Minutes For Mom Blog Party

Welcome to my blog party!

Fancy a cuppa by dubbieLet me show you around. For ambiance we need some music and no party is complete without some food so, just click on my recipe page.

Now, we’re ready for some great conversation. Here my friendly readers and I talk about God, organizing our homes, we share household tips, we have fun with holidays all through the year (even Chinese New Year and Leap Year), we share recipes. Just yesterday, one of my readers gave me her first place award winning recipe for Peanut Butter Brownie Torte.

I love photography, books and adventures so you’ll find those too.bird-singing-5-by-andrew-pescod.jpg

I participate in Works For Me Wednesday, Thursday Thirteen and Word-Filled Wednesday and the links will take you to just a sample of 2007-12-21-half-moon-bay-beach-009-copy.jpgmy entries for these carnivals.

I won some awards, have repeatedly earned Fastest Growing WordPress Blog and Top Post too, if you don’t mind me bragging just a bit.

My grand-mother used to say “show me your friends and I will tell you who you are,” so to help you mingle in this party, let me introduce you to just a few of the people who visit me and those I visit. When you come back, you’ll meet a lot more, but for today, here’s just a few:

  • 4urpets is a friend in real life and her humorous blog is about her 3 Chihuahuas;
  • Tad Cronn is a newspaper editor who writes about conservative news not often published in the liberal media;It’s Snowing In Los Angeles — Must Be Global WARMING!! by Infinity Goods
  • Texas Tanya is a mom who adopted two wonderful boys, has great ideas and likes photography;
  • Amy Deanne is the new bloggy friend who hosts Word-Filled Wednesday;
  • Gina has a fun public diary, participates at Works For Me Wednesday and you’ll see her at 4urpets too;
  • Erin Craig is a newlywed with a Weimaraner (dog) and she also loves photography;
  • Look over at my right sidebar and you’ll see more people who link to me and people I visit.

Make yourselves at home, enjoy the party, and be sure to sign the guest book so I can visit you in return. I hope we will become friends and visit each other often.

Please Advise :-)

Posted by infinitygoods on March 4, 2008

This Works For Me Wednesday Backwards Edition came at just the perfect time because I happen to need advise on several issues.  Please help me out and thanks for all your comments.

  • Which blog reader do you prefer and why?  (I’ve been using and loving WordPress Blog Surfer, but it only works for WordPress blogs.)
  • What is your favorite, easy to make/serve dessert for your family?  I often serve ice cream as it’s real easy, tasty and in hot Southern California it also cools us down, but I’d love your ideas or recipes for some more variety.
  • Our son is doing a poll for school and would like me to ask which presidential candidate do you DISLIKE the most and why?
  • Life is getting outrageously expensive.  The price of everything is going up except for paychecks.  What are your best ways of saving money and stretching your shrinking dollar?
  • It’s time to change cell phones, so which company are you happy with?  Which plan gets the most minutes for the least amount of money?
  • Can you recommend digital scrapbooking sites?

For more participants, be sure to visit Rocks In My Dryer.

Solution For Keys Lost Right In Your Own Home

Posted by infinitygoods on February 26, 2008

I don’t know if it’s premature old age, if it’s too many other things on the brain, or if everybody is like this from time to time, but a few years ago I started losing my keys all over the house, except in a logical spot. Being tired of searching frantically and of making myself late to boot, I hung a decorative wooden box on the wall right behind the front door. It took a couple of days to remember to put my keys in there, but the training period was fast. I also put in there our sunglasses, a spare garage door remote, a spare set of house and car keys and a pen in case I need to sign for something at the door. It works for me and now I’m always ready to go.

So has this happened to you??? Or is it just me?

Never Fear, God Is Here

Posted by infinitygoods on February 26, 2008

Never Fear, God Is Here Photo by Infinity Goods
One of the wildflowers on the mountain you saw in last week’s Word Filled Wednesday. The yellow ones bloomed first. This week the orange ones are popping up in profusion. Our mountainsides have no concern for being irrigated, and each spring God provides an abundance of multicolored blooms. Wishing you all a worry-free Wednesday.

Participate In Church And You’ll Feel Like You Belong: Purpose Driven Life Chapt. 17

Posted by infinitygoods on February 25, 2008

Telegraph Tower by pbo31 on Flickr public files

 “If you know people who have wandered off from God’s truth, don’t write them off.  Go after them.  Get them back.”  James 5:19

When we not only attend church, but also participate in it, we usually get far more in return than what we give.  I, for one, have been happiest at churches where I have actively participated by joining the various activities and by volunteering my time and talent.  When I worked for my church I also gave far more of myself than I would have for an ordinary job, because it just wasn’t a job, it was a ministry.  Although I gave more, I also gained more.  I gained spiritually.  I gained a sense of belonging.  I gained experience.  I contributed and created.

Most people just come to church for the Sunday service.  Many even grumble about it.  One hour or even less per week for God and their fellow Christians is still too much for them.  In comparison, we had some members who came to our church 7 days a week.  The ones who gave the most complained the least and were the happiest.  If we don’t have any responsibilities, if we don’t contribute, we don’t feel like we belong, we don’t feel like we matter.

What about you?  Are you one of the grumblers or do you give of yourself to your church for God?  Do you show your love for God or are you inadvertently showing that you’d rather be somewhere else?  Are you committed to your church and God’s family?

In Memoriam, Helena, ‘Thrice Blessed Momma’ Passes

Posted by infinitygoods on February 24, 2008

In Memoriam Helena Thrice Blessed Momma We have lost one of our blogging sisters. A young mother of 5-year-old triplets has passed away only 2 years after the passing of her husband. These dear babies, Zoe, Madison and Jonathan, now have no parents. It was a sudden death and the family does not yet know the cause.

Helena of Thrice Blessed Momma had written in her next to last post, “I’m exhausted! This goes way beyond being tired. More than PCOS tired. More than SAHM of Triplets tired. More than I need to lose some (okay, lots of) weight tired. This is even more than PCOS-triplets-I need to lose weight tired. This is that and so much more. Deep in your bones tired. If I had no children and no responsibilities at all and could stay in bed and sleep for a month, I don’t think it would help. And it’s not depression either.”

And yes, the red type is hers, not mine. While her entire blog was in the traditional black type, this post was in bright red, crying out for help.

The family will be putting her blog into a book for her children. They are also interested in collecting memories for the book, and Helena’s cousin wrote in the comments section of Robin’s blog at Around the Island, “I can be reached via e-mail at samantha_edelman@hotmail.com. Please pass the word.”  Whether or not you knew Helena through her blog, years from now, when these babies are older, I’m sure it would please them to see many comments from all over the blogosphere in support of their dear mommy, whom they might only barely remember since they are so young.

I’ve only today discovered Helena’s blog through Robin’s blog post, but it has touched me. She had a good blog, and it was full of love for her children and her husband. I encourage you to visit her blog as friends would visit a memorial. Her blog can be a virtual memorial so that through blog hit statistics her family and her children can see how much she was loved too and how much blogosphere sisters (and brothers too!) care about each other.

Please do take the time.
