Growing Blog, Top Post And Blog Forecast For 2008

Posted by infinitygoods on January 3, 2008

I’m amazed and also quite pleased to see that I continue to make the Growing Blog list on WordPress despite the exponential factor which should make it progressively more difficult to be on this list.

To remain a growing blog, you not only have to grow, but you have to outdo your own growing rate and the rate of others each time, and I’ve started the new year with a bang not only being one of the WordPress Growing Blogs, but also having one of the Top Posts on WordPress.

At last count my post Organizing Household Resources In An Address Book was the 99th Top Post on WordPress out of more than 2 million blogs and an unknown bazillion posts.

I’ve said it before, but I have to say it again that I thank my readers. I’m so glad that you find my blog to be interesting and useful. I’m so glad when I look at my statistics and see that you came to my site from a link which was e-mailed to you or when I read my own e-mail and there’s a note from you telling me that you are putting me on your reader so you won’t miss a post.

As you saw with yesterday’s post, I don’t like to make New Year Resolutions because so few people can keep them and if I’m going to have a resolution or a goal, why wait for January 1, but here are just a few of the directions I see my blog going in the coming months. I have other plans too that I’ll let you know about as the year unfolds.

If you’ve made the resolution to be organized, this blog is quickly becoming the place to find easy tips and solutions. I’ve even created pages at the top of this blog for Household Tips and for Organizing so that you can easily find my posts at any time. To help you with that there are also a search feature and a calendar in the sidebar.

I’ve noticed that you are also especially interested in my posts on healthy eating and cookies (not so healthy but yummy) as well as other recipes. So I’ll give you a bit more in these areas too in the coming months.

I’ll continue to post about religion, God and my opinions on the topic. The Lenten season is approaching quickly. For the past two years I have used the book “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren to prepare for Easter by reading his book and reflecting on his 40-day spiritual journey. I found different insights each year as I have grown and changed, and for 2008 I hope you’ll join me on-line. I highly recommend this book which according to Publishers Weekly has become “the bestselling nonfiction hardback book in history.” So come find out why with me and my other readers. If you don’t already own it, you can check it out from your local library when the time comes, or you can purchase it.

Today and anytime, feel free to leave me comments. Comments help us get to know each other and to build a community.

In the meantime, thanks a million to all of you for reading my blog, and I wish you and your loved ones a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2008!!!

Blogging Inspires Three More Blogs and a Novel

Posted by infinitygoods on November 10, 2007

nano_participant_icon_large4.gifnablo07120x240lgcat.jpg

My blogging adventures have inspired three people I know in the real world to start a blog of their own, another is thinking about it and one of the three is also participating in NaNoWriMo.

I didn’t even bring up the topic. Just seeing what I was doing, these three people were inspired to do the same. One of them is also a writer, so it may not be too surprising, but the other two were never particularly interested in writing.

It feels great to know that my actions are someone’s inspiration; that I have somehow empowered someone.

It’s important to realize the ramifications of our actions, all our actions. Regardless of what we do and even what we don’t do, these actions affect others. We must be conscious of that and lead our lives as examples to others. Too often we forget that.

It’s not just the major things we do in our lives that can affect, inspire, or crush or destroy someone. It’s also small things, like my new blog. I never gave a thought to it. It was just another WordPress blog as the slogan goes around here.

It’s a reminder to think of others and of consequences. Our actions are never too insignificant to be a blessing or a curse to someone, so choose wisely.

Amazing Photo From Iraq, Amazing Photojournalism Blog

Posted by infinitygoods on November 9, 2007

Thanks and Praise — Photo by Michael Yon 2007

“Thanks and Praise: I photographed men and women, both Christians and Muslims, placing a cross atop the St. John’s Church in Baghdad. They had taken the cross from storage and a man washed it before carrying it up to the dome,” — Michael Yon
Michael Yon is making this photograph available to media outlets, such as print publications and cable and television news broadcasts, at no cost for a limited period of time. For more information, please contact his site here.

Praise the Lord, St. John’s church in Baghdad is not only reopened, but it did so with the help of Christians and Muslims working together!

Michael Yon, a freelance photojournalist reporting from Baghdad has brought the above photo to the Internet along with his online magazine using a WordPress blog documenting the war in Iraq. He is doing photojournalism at its best — the way it should be done — the way we are not seeing it done in the mass media today.

I hope you are interested in seeing real photos from the trenches and that you will jump to Michael’s site. With the photo above Michael sends a message from the Iraqis. They “asked me to convey a message of thanks to the American people. “Thank you, thank you,” the people were saying. One man said, “Thank you for peace.”

“Another man, a Muslim, said “All the people, all the people in Iraq, Muslim and Christian, is brother.” The men and women were holding bells, and for the first time in memory freedom rang over the ravaged land between two rivers.”

I must tell you this is the same message I heard from an American Navy nurse, our deacon’s daughter, who was stationed in Iraq. She too said the Iraqis were thankful that Americans were there and that we should not believe what is said in the liberal mass media.

Cheers to Michael for the photos. Cheers to the Christians and Muslims who worked together to reopen St. John’s Church in Baghdad. And Praise our Lord!

Moving On Up … To Number 6!

Posted by infinitygoods on October 11, 2007

UPDATE: On Oct. 25, 2007, Infinity Goods became the fifth fastest growing blog on WordPress.

My site’s statistics were quite exciting today, jumping as high as #4 fastest growing blog on WordPress for a fair amount of the day and settling at #6, but still growing, at closing.

I also noticed a growing number of comments which I really like to see. I hope to build a friendly community here at infinitygoods.com where readers and I can help and learn from eachother.

In 14 days I went from #88 to #35, and now in 5 days I am reaching #6, so I am once again thanking you for making infinitygoods.com so successful so quickly. It’s great to have readers like all of you.

In an attempt to get to know each other better I am participating in Thursday Thirteen. Please join me through comments and let me know about yourselves too.

For this first week, I am letting you know about 13 books on my bookshelves. I think the books someone reads are very revealing about their personality. I am an avid reader.

Please click on to the next post for my first Thursday Thirteen.

Infinity Goods Receives Positive Review, Reviews Sites

Posted by infinitygoods on October 8, 2007

Infinity Goods has received a positive review from foodthatheal.info for my post “Adventures In Barbecuing. ” You can see the comment advising me of it below my post of October 4, 2007. Foodthatheal has great reviews of blog posts about food.

In checking out foodthatheal’s website, I discovered another blog recommended by foodthatheal . It’s another great new WordPress site at frugallawstudent.com. It is full of tips, ideas and advise on saving money and not incurring further debt. I think my Works For Me Wednesday (WFMW) readers would be very interested in that site too, so try it out.

And y’all don’t forget to come back to infinitygoods.com, ya hear?

In the meantime, wishing you a HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!!
